Principal’s Message

It’s a great privilege to submit few worlds of encouragement to this golden effort, of establishing a fund to help the needy students.
No one should be a drop out, in education, because of financial difficulties. Our vision is to give necessary guidance and support to expand their knowledge and skills to be a person with the required competencies.
In closing I’d like to take this opportunity to call upon the sons of Rahula all around the globe to extend their corporation for this effort to establish a brighter future for Mother Rahula.

Objectives of the fund
In vallys of soil, a tiny piece of gold cant be excavated easily. Just as we have brilliant students studying in Rahula College. But some are in a struggle because of lack of money. They appeal me several times for a helping hand.
I’s a great start and we have made a fund called Rahal Randaru scholarship for the students who come from low income families.
Mr. H.W.P.Atapattu from 2nd cross road, Walpola, Matara laid the foundation to start the fund by donating one hundred thousand rupees.
Launching Ceremony
The fund was launched on 28thof November 2008 at the auspicious time of 12.45pm with the blessings of Buddha Dhamma Sanga invoke by Ven Valasgala Pagnaseeha thero of the Rahula College staff with a chanting of Pirith at the Reference Library of Rahula college. The event was chaired by the deputy Principle Mr. Sudath Samarawickrama with the presence of well wishers and donors of Rahla College. The first 15 donors were unanimously nominated for the board of trustees. Their names are as follows,

- Scholarship recipients :
- First phase :
Four students who qualify for University entrance from streams of Biology, Mathematics, Commerce and Arts for the year of 2009 based on results of the 2008 A/L exam who fulfill the preceding requirements will receive scholarships annually. - Second phase
epending on the success of the fund four students who qualfy to follow Biology, Mathematics, Commerce, and Arts streams for A/L’s, who are the top qualifiers on the preceding selection criteria will receive scholarships of value not exceeding 3500 rupees. Annually (Those who join the school for their A/L studies on completion of O/L’s in another school may also apply) - Third phase :Scholarships not exceeding a value of 3500 rupees will be awarded to a student from a rural school depending on the success and development of the fund.

(See the 1st attachment)- First phase Annual interest for the 100000 rupee fixed deposit will be divided by four and that money will be awarded to the four scholarship receivers.
- Method for receiving the money
- A student account must be opened in the respective bank.
- The Board of Trustees will submit the money in to the account.

For students who qualify for the University enrollment.

- Being guilty of a misbehavior, in violation of the disciplinary code.
- Being complained for the behavior at school or university.
- Having supplied the false information.
- Depending on marks obtained or under an order of the administration of the institute, the scholar is learning
- Instructions on using the scholarship :
- If learning in school the, the class teacher should certify that the scholarship money is spent for studies.
- Parents/ Guardian should certify that the scholarship receipent is engaged in studies as required.
- If learning in University, the student should inform through written means, the ways of spending the scholarship money to scholarship Scholarship Board of Trustees.
- The documents of this fund are not allowed to be used by anybody for any purpose. Occupied by the “Rahal” scholarship The board trustees is bonded to submit an account record to the guardians of the fund
