Two Years Progress of the Rahal Randaru Fund
Rahal Randaru Scholarship fund has started its successful 3rd year with the new principal of Rahula College Mr. Nimal Dissanayake. Honourable committee of the fund had a meeting on 09th December 2010. Though it was raining heavily most of the members got together to discuss the future prospects of the fund.
The principal appreciated the fund and gave new proposals to improve the deposit of the fund. He instructed the committee to take maximum support of the Rahula old boys by sending letters, discussing with them personally and taking an apportunity for a T.V. discussion to make them aware about the fund.
Committee has taken steps to increase the number of students who are legible to have the scholarships from the fund.
The founder of the fund Mr. H.W.P. Athapaththu also gave his ideas. The hon. secretary, deputy principal Mr. H.W. Rathnayake, Mr. I.K. Amarasinghe and Mrs. Padma Satharasinghe also contributed ideas.
Mr. Nimal Dissanayake (Principal of Rahula College), Mrs. R.M. Hettiarachchi, Mrs. Sudeewa Kariyawasam (RCM Staff), and Mr. Nuwan Mahesh Ranawaka (Doctor Matara Hospital and Old Boy Rahula) donated Rs. 5000/- each. So the fund had raised by Rs. 20,000/-.
The committee had decided to give 30 scholarships (Rs. 5000/- each) at school annual event – prize giving 2010 which was held in March 2011.
10 Rahula Students from grade twelve, 10 students who got best results in 2010 A/L exam and 10 students who was following their first year in the universities, according to the criteria of the fund.
It’s very happy to inform that on the 1st of January 2011, the Rahal Randaru Fund had nearly Rs. 250,000 in it’s fixed deposit and Rs. 161000.00 in the current account, in the supergrade branch of Bank of Ceylon Matara. A/C No. 8623004
